Doctors Suck

I went to the lab today to have blood drawn since my first labs didn't include an HIV test or a Lupus screen. When I got to the lab they said the orders were unclear, and since my doctors office is closed today they wouldn't be able to find out what I need until tomorrow morning. So I drove all the way to Decatur for nothing. I'm confused and can't decide what to do. I kind of don't want to see this doctor anymore since this is like two mistakes in my eyes. I also don't want to go through the hassle of seeking out another doctor though. When is the fairy tale in my mind going to come to life? Don't get me wrong, I am so thankful for the life I have, I just see things differently in my head than how they turn out in real life. This leads to disappointment.
A friend asked me if I was carrying high, and I said, "heck if I know." From the pictures that I posted what do you think? These pics are from 16 and 17 weeks.

wives tales and superstitions

Craig has been checking out the Chinese Gender Calendar to see what we are supposed to be having. It's a mixed review. Some say girl, some say boy. Tonight we thought we would try the 'ol ring from the string above the belly trick. Craig dangled his wedding ring just above my belly. We waited, and not much happened. We tried it with my ring too, just to see if it made a difference, and from what we could tell, it moved side to side (barely). This is supposed to mean that it's a boy. If it swings in a circle, it's supposed to mean girl. I guess we just have to wait the five weeks to find out for sure.

Tootie's Dance Recital

Caroline had her dance recital today. Craig and I drove 2.5 hours to see her dance for 30 seconds, but it was well worth it. She was so cute. They danced to Jesus loves me, and it was adorable. Afterword she came and sat with me and Craig, and we gave her a flower, and watched the rest of the dancers. Then it was time to wait for the awards. I loved watching the cheerleaders do all their stunts, but Craig was a little antsy. I guess Cheerleading is not his thing. This school was amazing, even little kids doing huge basket tosses and other lifts that quite frankly I don't know the names of. I think a liberty was one of them though. On the way home Craig and I stopped at Babies r Us but didn't see too much we wanted yet. I did have him check out diaper bags so maybe we can get one that either he or I will look okay carrying around. He had the most fun checking out the Jeep strollers. Go figure.

Heart Beat

We finally heard the heartbeat on our at home fetal heart doppler. So exciting. Usually I just hear my own heartbeat or the placenta swooshing. Two nights ago I laid back and two seconds later, wooshwooshwooshwoosh. It was so fast and so loud. I quickly felt my neck and my heartbeat was significantly slower. I just put my head back and listened for about 30 seconds then, whooosh. It moved. So I felt around again. We played our first game of tag. hehe! Craig loved it, and started looking up gender related to heartbeat again. I still have no premonition as to what we are having.
Per Christi's advise I bought some tubs to store the baby stuff we have so far. I bought three tubs. One is full of blankets already. One has clothes, mittens, burp clothes, and little booties. The last has all the stuffed lambs people have given us, a little pink bunny, and two books. We have a nice start and I'm not even six months along yet.
I mentioned to Craig that it'd be nice to clean out the nursery and go ahead and paint and make it suitable for storing baby stuff instead of tools and lumber. We look like a hardware store. I don't think he is ready to jump on that bandwagon, but if I put the bug in Connie's ear, I bet she would make it happen. HINT! HINT! It sure would be nice to not have to store the baby stuff in our kitchen.
People at work are starting to point out that my stomach is getting bigger. It's pretty funny. One lady said, "hey, look, your starting to show." I was like, No way, really? I have been telling people that for the last two months.
There is a baby in there, and I'm showing.

14 weeks

I'm 14 weeks and 5 days. My belly is protruding nicely, at least I think so. I finally gained one pound. WOW! I feel pretty good, other than allergies. Craig laughs at me because I look at my stomach at least 20 times a day. It's pretty cool to see how it's growing. Here is my 14 week belly pic.

2nd appointment

I had my second appointment on Monday. I went solo this time since Dude had an important deadline to meet at work. I got to hear the heartbeat. It was a steady 156. I only got to hear it for about 15 seconds. The nurse said, can you hear it, I said oh, yeah, and then she took the doppler off. Bummer. I think I am getting another ultrasound soon to see if the umbilical cord is forming or formed. The doctor sounded concerned that the yolk sac was still present at my 10 week ultrasound, but when I looked it up online, they said it doesn't go away until about 81 gestational days. Whatever, I'm excited to get another ultrasound before 22 weeks, maybe we will find out the sex. She also said I had blood in my urine and put me on UTI antibiotics. It's hard enough for me to swallow my horse pill of a prenatal, now this. Today was the first day when I thought, oh my gosh, is it really 26 more weeks of this. I'm super bloated, can't really sleep, so tired, and my face is breaking out. I kind of hyperventilated for a few seconds, then started thinking about the cute little baby that will be here at the end.
Last night Craig and I tried to hear the heartbeat at home since he didn't get to hear it on Monday. We heard what we thought was it, but I'm not too sure it wasn't mine. The monitor said it was 118, which is probably more like mine. Who knows, maybe we heard it and it just wasn't registering the right number. Next time I will time it with a watch to see what the bpm are. I told myself I was going to bed early tonight, but here I sit at 9:45 still awake. Try again tomorrow.

Easter 2010

Such a great Easter. We went to Chrisi and Eric's to eat lunch, fly kites, hide eggs and watch the kids hunt for them, and then celebrate Tootie's 3rd birthday. My favorite part was giving Jackson the hints on where the eggs are, he's so smart that he got most of my hints in one word. Uncle Craig thought I was hiding the eggs too high and too hard, but the kids had them all found in a matter of minutes. The funniest part was when Caroline went running for the first egg, and J yelled, save one for me. haha! There were about 35 eggs! Plenty to go around. Craig and I giggled at how Jackson emulates Eric's laugh, tries to sound so grown up and join in the conversation. Little Soph wasn't around for too much, she went down for her nap right after lunch, I can't wait until that girl is up all day. Toot is getting so big and so polite, she bumped into Nin and said "oh, excuse me honey." haha! I got to talk to my family on the way home. Holiday's don't get easier even as the years pass. I still miss our traditions and getting together. Everyone is getting older, and little Sean is not so little anymore. Maybe we can go home this summer sometime.

Antiquing success

Craig and I went antiquing today to try to find bathroom decor and a cedar chest. We had great luck and found three cedar chests, two of which we liked and both were a great price. One was $100 and the other was $95. We are going to think about it for a couple of days and then decide which one to go with. One was more simple, but larger and had a tray on the inside to hold small things like little socks or mittens. The other had claw feet and had an ornate design on the front, but it was a little smaller and no tray. Tough decision.
I planted a few more flowers today and helped pick up sticks in the yard so Craig could mow. Sounds easy, but being 13 weeks prego I am already getting out of breath and my legs are sore from walking up and down the basement stairs the other day. I don't know if I feel old, or pregnant. haha! I made some yummy pasta salad and oreo balls for tomorrow's meal at Christi and Eric's. Poor Dudee is still working on the tile and it's almost 11p.m. The good news, when he comes down tonight, our tiling will be complete. Yay!
I tried to talk Craig into taking me to see the Easter Bunny today. I told him it would be our baby's first easter picture, but he wasn't having it.
I'm missing my family, another holiday away from home, but I have a great family here and look forward to tomorrow, visiting with Christi and hanging out with the kiddos. Can't wait for Caroline to open her birthday present.

Spring has sprung!

Spring is finally here and our flowers are blooming. I planted some new flowers yesterday and rearranged our living room furniture to allow the breeze to flow through the windows. It looks so fresh and so clean, clean! Today I cleaned the basement and helped Craig tile our bathroom floor. Actually I handed him the spacers if you want to call that helping. It's absolutely gorgeous and the clean shineyness really looks great with the slate tile as a contrast. We are so excited! I thought of a name today, Dannon, yes like the yogurt. I told Craig and he giggled like a school girl, but I still think it's a cute boy name. I'm still liking Greyson and Reagan.
