Day after Day

Well, we have had some snow and the temps have ranged between 12-35. They say we are supposed to be up to 40 on Sunday. I certainly hope so! Because of the snow we cannot wash laundry, something is frozen or blocked-who knows. All I know is when we do water comes gushing out of the pipe into the laundry room. Fun! Also, I had to dig my car out yesterday so I could go to the laundry mat and go to work. This I was not happy about. While I hate the snow because of obvious reasons, it sure is pretty if all you have to do is look at it. Remy enjoys jumping around, and last night after Craig shoveled a little more for parking our cars, even we threw the snow around a little. I sent out a few resumes yesterday, maybe I will get a call.

Birthday-s-a-comin'

Well, in nine days I will be 28 years old. That sounds absolutely ancient until I think about Craig. He's already 29. In fact, he's gonna be thirty in September. I'm trying to get the wedding planned and in action before his birthday so we can at least say we were married before his thirtieth birthday. I thought it would be fun to try to post some birthday shots from the past. Enjoy!

Inspiration

Criag and I are trying to decide on permanent colors for the wedding. We are now thinking September. We need to stay with lilac as a color because we already have paper lanterns in that color. I saw a few pictures online today that I thought would make great inspiration for our autumn vows. I love the idea of purple shoes to go with my ivory organza dress. Very me!!! I think there are so many nature infused ideas that we can pull from and it seems so easy, at least sitting here at the computer looking at pictures. I love the idea of using green grapes in a dark brown basket with violets on top, edible art. ha! I also love the fact that you can use multiple shades of purple and mix it with brown to get a warm feeling. The tall grass in the pots brings me down to earth and I thought it would be fun to plant them at home or better yet, give them to family to plant. The simplest things look purple and brown like-a cork from a red wine bottle, beautiful and so so simple. Feel free to email me if you have any ideas or additional inspiration for our lilac and brown theme.

Man's best friends

I currently have three children. Berkley, Buster, and Remy. They really are a handful, but make my days worthwhile. Every morning about 5:30 Buster and Berkley decide its time to wake up and let me know this by scratching on the closet door or rustling through anything they can find that makes noise. I've decided they just want me to turn on the kitchen light so they can feed their bellies, which hang about to the floor. Remy on the other hand sleeps in. She loves to sleep on the bed, when she gets the chance. She has got begging down to an art, sad eyes, non-stop stare, and a huge tail wag when she gets what she wants. Connie and Chuck are her favorite people, they always give in. She has Craig duped too, never misses an opportunity to snack and take a nap with him. I love waking up to my pals, and knowing if I need a nap in the middle of the day I always have not one, but three cuddle buddies. Berkley is my California kitty, and I think he likes the cold about as much as I do. At days end, they are really man's best friend.

Tribute to Children

Well, I'm a new auntie. Christi gave birth to a beautiful 7lb 12oz baby girl named Sophie Grace. She was 22 inches long, maybe she will be a beach volleyball player or model. I thought I could give a tribute to all the little ones in my life and she could start us off. Caroline and Jackson are Christi's other two. I was lucky to be there when J-man was born and treasure that experience. My best friend Harmony is about to have another little one too. Another little girl. She has two other children; Logan and Kambrie. I was with Kambrie when she put her toes in the sand at the beach for the first time. This too I will always remember. I recently took a trip to Boston to see my brother and his daughter Brooklyn. She was the sweetest little thing ever. She reminded me to take my shoes off at the door and asked me to read a book with her the first night I was there. She was not afraid to cuddle up on my lap and this made me feel like I had not missed a day, she's three. I am sad that I live so far from everyone. I miss out on birthdays and plays. I hope someday soon we can all get together to play and celebrate all the "little" things that count. I'm thinking Hendry wedding 2009.

House remodel

The broadway house has been a work in progress for a little over two years. Many evenings and weekends Craig has slaved away to make a castle out of this house. The laundry room is near complete, the kitchen has been transformed from three small rooms into one elegant kitchen with everything a person could ever need. The current project is the upstairs. Going from a two bedroom, kitchen, living room, and bathroom the upstairs will now consist of a master bedroom, spacious bathroom, and a spare bedroom. Walls have been torn down and then replaced in more ideal locations. The plumming is being transferred from one room to the next, and sanding sanding sanding will never end. To see the upstairs now, I can picture my bed, and a soaking tub, and maybe even a little kids room-in the future(let's not get ahead of ourselves) It has come a long way, but has a long way to go.

Engagement Party

We had an engagement party Dec. 15, 2007 at our house here in Shelbyville. We made all necessary preparations, paint two rooms, buy artwork for the walls, clean from ceiling to floor, and even give Remy (our black lab) a good bathing. We invited family to come over in the early afternoon, and we feasted on pork roast and meatloaf, along with all the trimmings. Craig even made stuffed mushrooms. We had a good time; however, weather did not cooperate for us and everyone (except Craig's cousin Wade and his wife Tricia) peaced out super early so they would not get stuck on the snowy roads. It's my luck to have blizzard conditions on our big day. Wade, Tricia, Craig, and I visited and relaxed for about two hours and then the rest of the gang showed up. A few of our friends would not let blistering winds and blinding snow keep them from having a few (too many) drinks with us to celebrate. We played jenga, cards, and even had a visit from santa Dude (see pictures). Even Remy was exhausted and passed out on Pete and Sandy's bed. With all the excitement we neglected to get a picture of the two of us together. I will never forget the party, even with my absent friends and family from California, as my first and only engagement party.
